What a night. What a journey. What a celebration.

More than 300 guests representing business, education, philanthropy, government, community, family and beyond gathered in Toronto to celebrate the launch of From Floor to Fortune and the extraordinary journey behind it.

From arriving in Canada with just $108 in his pocket to building a business, creating opportunities, giving back and building a life rooted in family with his wife, Rashmi, Dr. Steve Gupta’s story is one of perseverance, hope and the Canadian dream.

The evening was made even more meaningful by the presence of Ontario Premier Doug Ford, former Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the High Commissioner of India Dinesh K. Patnaik, and so many distinguished guests who came together to honour Dr. Gupta and his contributions to Canada.

A special thank you to everyone who shared in this milestone and to Steve Paikin for joining Dr. Gupta for a meaningful conversation about the stories, lessons and people behind the book. This is just the beginning.

A successful businessman, but a dedicated son, father, and husband above all else.

Dr. Steve Gupta’s story began in Patiala, a small city in Punjab, India, before he immigrated to Canada in 1971 with just $108 in his pocket and a relentless drive to build a better life.

From working in a plastics factory to selling vacuums door-to-door and eventually buying his first business, Dr. Gupta embraced every challenge with adaptability, resilience, humility, and grace. These values would go on to shape The Gupta Group into the empire it is today.

But through every chapter of his life and career, one thing has remained constant: his commitment to family and community. Through the philanthropic work of The Gupta Family Foundation, the way he shows up for his family, and the way he honours his wife’s life and legacy, Dr. Gupta continues to lead with love and walk with faith.
