If a Realtor has asked you to sign a Buyer Broker Agreement before touring homes, don’t worry—this is completely normal and it’s now a standard part of the home buying process.
As of August 2024, new industry rules require buyers to sign a written agreement with their real estate agent before touring a home. The goal is to create more transparency so everyone understands how the agent represents the buyer and how they will be compensated.
So what does the agreement actually do?
🏡 It establishes that I’m representing you as your buyer’s agent.
📝 It outlines the services I’ll provide throughout your home search and purchase.
💬 It explains how my compensation works, so there are no surprises later.
🤝 It creates a clear understanding of our working relationship from the very beginning.
Signing a Buyer Broker Agreement does not mean you’re committing to buy a specific home. It simply allows me to legally represent you while showing properties and guiding you through the buying process.
