📣 NEWS FROM BANK OF CANADA

The Bank of Canada Keeps Interest Rate at 2.25%
No changes again! The Bank of Canada has held its key interest rate steady for the 6th straight time.

Here's Why:
📌 Canada's economy is showing signs of growth after a slow start to the year
📌 Inflation is still above target, but it's expected to cool over the coming months
📌 Consumer spending and exports are helping support the economy
📌 Global risks, including Middle East tensions and U.S. trade talks, are still creating uncertainty

Here’s the bottom line:
The Bank says it's prepared to raise or lower rates if
needed, but for now it believes 2.25% is the right level.

Borrowing costs aren't changing today, and unless inflation flares up again, interest rates are expected to stay where they are for the rest of the year.

We can expect another announcement on September 2!

The Spring Market Is In Full Swing 💐🏡

The spring market continued to strengthen across the GTA. Sales activity increased, inventory tightened, and buyer confidence improved 📈

Momentum picked up across the Durham Region and East. Peterborough and Prince Edward County stood out with the strongest price growth, while Durham remained stable.

Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland saw increased sales activity but softer pricing, giving buyers more negotiating power.

While inventory remains higher in many areas, the gap between sales and new listings narrowed in May, pointing toward a balanced market.

Looking ahead, if sales strengthen further relative to listings, selling prices will level off and even start to grow as we move into 2027 👀

The Bank of Canada holds steady… again!!!

▪️ There was no change to the policy rate today, staying at 2.25% for the fourth time in a row. That means variable mortgages and HELOC rates aren’t moving for now.

▪️ After 4 cuts in 2025, the Bank is still in wait and see mode as inflation ticked up to 2.4% in March

Now the big question is what comes next? Cut or hike?

For homeowners and buyers:
• Variable rates stay put
• Fixed rates creeping slightly due to bond yields

▪️Bottom line: don’t base big financial decisions on a single rate announcement. Lock in your pre approval!
