Things in Ottawa that make ZERO sense to the average person, but total sense to locals 😂🍁
❄️ Winter is a personality. We check the weather, see -30, and say "not too bad." Then we scrape the car for 20 minutes like it's a normal hobby.
🚧 Construction is a season. Right after snow season, we get road work season. Same street, different detour.
🚗 We plan trips around the 417. One accident and suddenly a 15 minute drive becomes a whole afternoon.
🛶 The Rideau Canal is a highway. In winter we skate to work. In summer we paddle. Nobody blinks.
🥞 Beavertails are a food group. Yes, in the snow. Yes, at any time of year.
🇨🇦 We live in two provinces at once. Ottawa and Gatineau are basically one city with a river in the middle, and yes, we cross it for groceries, gas, and dinner.
😅 We know the difference between "Ottawa" and "Nepean" and "Orleans" and "Kanata," and we will tell you which one is far.
