I think about this a lot as a mom of two girls and will owning a home one day feel possible for them?
I came across an article from Realtor.com that really stuck with me: it appears more and more children are receiving help from their parents (sometimes using their own home equity) so that they can get into the market earlier.
Here's why it matters:
- Buying earlier can increase net worth by over 22% by age 50
- Homeownership builds wealth in ways renting simply doesn't (forced savings, equity, stability)
-Today's reality? Many first-time home buyers can't get there without some kind of family support.
It made me pause.... not because every parent should do this but because it highlights how much the landscape to home ownership has changed. For our kids, it may not just be about saving harder.
As a real estate broker (and a mom), I see this shift every day. If you're thinking about your kids' future in real estate, I'm always happy to be a resource :)
