🧱 If you can see mold on your drywall… that’s usually just the beginning.

What you see on the surface is often only a small part of the problem. Behind the drywall, mold can spread across the paper backing, insulation, and even the wood framing, all while remaining completely hidden.

That’s why simply wiping away visible mold doesn’t always solve the issue. Finding the source of the moisture and understanding how far the mold has spread is key to fixing it properly.

Sometimes what’s behind the wall tells a much bigger story than what’s on the surface.

🐶 Sometimes the best training is finding… absolutely nothing.

Not every training session has hidden mold.

Just as important as teaching Winnie to alert when mold is present is teaching her not to alert when it isn’t. That accuracy is what builds trust and helps prevent false positives during real inspections.

Today was all about proving that no alert is just as valuable as an alert.

Because the goal isn’t for Winnie to find mold every time. It’s for her to be right every time. 💚

🐶 How do you train a mold detection dog?

For Winnie, it’s basically the world’s best game of hide and seek. 🎾

We hide small samples of household mold in different locations and let her nose do the rest. Every successful find earns her a reward, turning training into a fun game she absolutely loves.

Behind every accurate mold inspection are hours of practice, repetition, and positive reinforcement. It might look like play, but it’s building the skills that help us pinpoint hidden mold when it matters most.

✨ Air quality upgrade, without harsh chemicals.

One of the tools we use is a hydroxyl machine. It helps clean the air by producing naturally occurring hydroxyl radicals that break down odours and many airborne contaminants. It’s a great option during certain remediation and restoration projects because it’s designed to improve indoor air quality while people can often remain in the building, depending on the specific situation.

A dehumidifier is one of the best investments you can make to help reduce excess moisture in your home, especially in basements and other damp areas. Less moisture means a less inviting environment for mold to grow.

But here’s the part many people forget… 👇

If you don’t regularly empty and clean the water tank, it can become the perfect place for mold and bacteria to grow. Instead of helping your indoor air quality, a neglected dehumidifier can end up creating another problem.

✔️ Empty the tank often.
✔️ Clean it regularly with a mild disinfectant.
✔️ Follow the manufacturer’s maintenance recommendations.

There are a lot of misconceptions about mold—and believing them can lead to bigger problems down the road.

❌ Myth: “If I can’t see mold, it isn’t there.”
✅ Fact: Mold often grows in hidden areas like behind walls, under flooring, or inside ceilings after a moisture issue.

❌ Myth: “If my home doesn’t smell musty, I don’t have mold.”
✅ Fact: Not all mold produces a noticeable odor, especially when it’s hidden.

❌ Myth: “Only old homes get mold.”
✅ Fact: Any home—new or old—can develop mold if moisture is present.

❌ Myth: “Painting over a stain fixes the problem.”
✅ Fact: Covering a stain doesn’t address the underlying moisture or any hidden mold that may be present.
