Good Land Buying Starts With Clear Needs🌾

Before looking at farmland, it helps to understand what you actually need.
Every buyer is different. Some are expanding an existing operation, some are buying for the first time, and some
are looking for very specific land, location, or opportunity.
The better the questions at the start, the better the search can become.

Large farmland sales need more than a sign.
A successful farmland sale takes more than putting a property on the market. Reach, process, pricing strategy, and
the right buyer network all matter.
For large Saskatchewan land packages, how the listing is prepared and presented can make a meaningful difference.

👉Considering a major farmland sale? We can help guide the process.

Unique Selling Situations 🌾

I recently sat down with Mike Ciona from CTV News to talk about something we are seeing more of lately — producers looking for creative ways to sell their land while maintaining their operation.

Over the last few months we have had several farmers reach out interested in selling their land and leasing it back from the buyer, or exploring share sales. These unique arrangements can be a powerful tool for freeing up cash flow and reducing debt without shrinking your farming footprint.

👉If this is something you have been thinking about, I would love to have a conversation.

Saskatchewan Crop Report🌾
Seeding in Saskatchewan is massively delayed — one of the latest starts I have ever seen. We are 52 per cent seeded provincially for the week of May 19 to 25, well behind the five-year average of 74 per cent.

The east side of the province is in the toughest spot, with east-central at 26 per cent and the northeast at 25 per cent. Fortunately their forecast is good and producers are making the most of it. Meanwhile, some areas in the southwest are actually in need of moisture.

From a yield perspective, a bumper crop is probably off the table at this point — but anything can happen in agriculture. The forecast looks good and we are hoping for the best!

If you see a farmer out there this week, give them a high five and wish them well.

Experience brings perspective — and often a few things we’d change along the way.

Farm life is more than just land.

Farmland is more than just land — it’s a way of life. It represents years of hard work, family history, and long-term commitment.

For many families, the land holds stories that go back generations, making every decision around it more meaningful.

Ted recently sat down with Mike Ciona from CTV News to talk about where the Saskatchewan farm real estate market is headed this spring.

After 15 years of riding this market uphill, we are starting to level out. Grain land and ranch land are telling two very different stories right now, and it is worth understanding what that means for your land.

Saskatchewan Crop Report for the Week of May 12 to 18, 2026🌾

A weather system moved through Saskatchewan this week bringing strong winds and mixed precipitation, slowing seeding progress considerably. Seeding is currently 29 per cent complete, up 13 per cent from last week but still well behind the five-year average of 55 per cent.

Despite the delays, all regions made progress. The southwest leads at 55 per cent complete, while the northeast is just getting started at 3 per cent.

Pulse crops are the most advanced with field peas and lentils at 53 per cent, while canola sits at 15 per cent and spring wheat at 25 per cent.

The moisture picture is looking good. Several areas received significant rainfall, with Dundurn recording 83mm. Topsoil moisture is adequate to surplus across most of the province.
