There's a version of Canada that only exists if you go looking for it.

I moved to the West Coast in 2001 and for the first nine years I lived on Galiano Island, which is in the southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia. Some of my family still live here at the north end of the island which is spectacular with its sandstone ridges and Arbitus trees and views across Trincolmali channel over to Vancouver Island. Some people make their homes here by their own, their hands milling the wood and planning the future for their families.

It’s a special privilege to be able to do these things and live your life the way you choose to.

Spent the afternoon wandering Galiano Island — one of my favourite reasons to love this job.
Stopped in at The Pink Geranium for a little taste of island life. Small place, big charm, exactly the kind of spot that makes Galiano what it is.
Days like this are why I love this coast so much. Always something to discover just around the bend.

I can’t believe the girls are Graduating! If you have never been to Finnerty Gardens at UVic, it is a very special place and made even more special today to watch my daughter with four of her besties from preschool to graduating high school!
