I put together this little fall home maintenance checklist because there are so many things that come with owning a home — and some of them are pretty easy to forget when you’re busy living.

From cleaning out the eavestroughs to checking your furnace, there are a things worth taking care of before winter settles in.

You don’t have to be ready to buy/sell a home to talk to a Realtor®️.

Sometimes you just have questions.

💭 What could I realistically afford right now?
💭 What might my current home be worth?
💭 Should I sell first or buy first?
💭 What would my next move actually look like?
💭 Or… is moving even the right decision for me?

You don’t need to have all the answers before you call. That’s kind of the point. 😉

My job isn’t to pressure you into making a move. It’s to listen, answer your questions, explain your options and help you figure out what makes sense for you.

And sometimes, the right answer is simply “not yet.” And that’s okay.

🇨🇦 NATIONAL:
A man in Nova Scotia was reunited with a wallet he lost 51 years ago after it was discovered underneath the floor of a house being renovated. It still contained his ID, a 1975 theatre ticket and a dollar bill.

🦬 LOCAL:
Manitoba’s minimum wage increased to $16.40 on October 1.
The 2026 Winnipeg living wage has increased to $20.31/hour, up 54 cents from last year.

🏡 WINNIPEG REAL ESTATE MARKET
Winnipeg’s real estate market continues to show some interesting numbers.
Year-to-date, the average price of a detached home is up 3% from this time last year, while condos are also up 3%. But sales are down 6% — another good reminder that there’s more to the market than just one number.
As always, neighbourhood and pricing matter. 🏡📊

🏘️The Fall Parade of Homes is still on for one more week. Explore beautiful new homes, check out the latest design trends, and see what different builders have to offer.

📍 WINNIPEG THIS WEEKEND
🏒The Winnipeg Jets open their season tonight at home against the Boston Bruins at 7pm. Then head to Detroit Sunday for a 12pm game against the Red Wings.

🏈The Blue Bombers are in Montreal Saturday night to take on the Alouettes at 7pm.

Back from my solo adventure to Tofino, visiting with family in Vancouver, and right back into work life!
This is my favourite time of year in Winnipeg. The cooler mornings, beautiful fall days and, of course, watching the leaves start to change... especially those red ones! 🍁

What October means in real estate…

The leaves are changing.
The weather is changing.
The market is changing.

And suddenly the question pops up…
“Should we buy/sell now or wait until spring?” 🤷‍♀️

The honest answer? There isn’t one answer that works for everyone.

Sometimes buying/selling now makes sense. Sometimes waiting does.

It depends on your plans, your finances, your timing and, most importantly, what you’re actually looking for.

I don’t feel my job is to convince you to buy or sell. It’s to help you understand your options, answer the questions you didn’t know you should ask, and help you make a decision that makes sense for you.

GRATEFUL 🙏

There’s something extra special about helping clients through more than one move, and even better when the last one leads them to their forever home.

A Little Tofino Time

I managed to slip away to Tofino last week for a little solo adventure. 🌊

It’s a place I’ve wanted to visit for years, and finally getting there was pretty special.

There’s something about walking along the ocean, walking in the rainforest, taking in different scenery, and having a little time to yourself that reminds you how important it is to make time for the things you love.

As much as I love getting away and exploring new places, it’s always nice to come home, reconnect with the people and things that matter, and get back to doing something I genuinely love.

A little time away, a fresh perspective, and a whole lot of gratitude for both. ❤️

AU NATUREL

A year ago, I decided to see what life looked like without alcohol.

It wasn’t about hitting rock bottom or making a dramatic change. It was simply about getting curious. Curious about who I was without it.

Over the past 12 months, I’ve learned more about myself, bit by bit. I’ve discovered that I don’t need a drink to celebrate, unwind, connect, or have a good time. More importantly, I’ve found a quieter and truer version of myself.

I’d like to think the people around me still see the same Alix they’ve always known.

But what I love most is how I see myself now.

More peaceful.

More present.

Happier.

Kinder to myself.

One year alcohol-free. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to see what was possible.

And what I’ve found is a version of myself that feels more at home with myself than ever before. ❤️
