A good tradesperson is worth holding onto 🔧
One thing that can take time is building up a network of reliable local contractors.
Whether it’s a small repair or a bigger job like this recent roofing repair work, it’s not just about finding someone who can do the job. You want people who turn up when they say they will, communicate well, charge fairly and do a good job.
There are also the practical checks — making sure they have the appropriate qualifications or certification for the work they’re carrying out, along with things such as public liability insurance where relevant.
Those relationships don’t appear overnight.
Over time you get to know who you can rely on, who answers the phone when something needs sorting and, importantly, who you’re happy to send into a tenant’s home.
Once you’ve found good local contractors, they really are worth their weight in gold.
It’s one of those less obvious parts of managing rental property — but a really important one.
