A plea for common sense - Over recent weeks, groups of teenagers have been gathering at the former Cabin Hill School site on the Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast.
This is not harmless fun. Arrests have taken place.
Alcohol, drugs, graffiti, vandalism and knives have all been found on site. The PSNI and NIFRS have both had to attend. Our buildings and security equipment have been damaged, and tens of thousands of pounds have already been spent dealing with the consequences.
But the biggest concern is this: someone could be seriously hurt.
Construction and vacant building sites are not playgrounds. They are dangerous places, especially at night and especially when alcohol, drugs or weapons are involved.
We are NOT posting this to name and shame anyone. Please DO NOT IDENTIFY ANYONE PUBLICLY in the comments.
We do not want young people criminalised. We do not want to press charges. We simply want this to stop before a parent gets the phone call no one ever wants to receive.
If you recognise someone, please speak privately to their parents, guardians, older siblings or someone who can get the message through.
Please help us protect these young people, protect the emergency services’ time, and stop further damage.
One bad decision on a building site can change a life forever.
Please stay away from the site.
