If you’re in the area it’s well worth watching these athletes as they battle their way round the course. 👏

Another great local walk today - Oxenber Woods from Austwick.

Park in Austwick, take the bridleway just after the tennis courts and follow it (over the old slate bridge) until a path branches off, up and into the woods above. Once all the climbing has been done, turn left and follow the path through the woods (marked posts lead the way) until you pop out on the track. Fantastic views over to Pen-y-Ghent from here.

Turn right, and descend to Feizor where you can pop into Elaine’s Tea rooms for some food or a drink. Continue along the walled lane back to Austwick and if there’s time pop into the Game C**k Inn for a postal pint 🍺

4 miles and a lovely walk with great views and a delightful SSSI protected woodland.

September's a good month to be visiting Ingleton.

Once the schools go back, many of the most popular walks empty out and there's normally still a run of good weather to come. In the second half of the month, and into October, the leaves along the river start turning, making the Waterfalls Walk even more spectacular.

Choose from a three-day weekend, a four-day midweek break, or the full week if you can wangle it. Autumn availability is on the website.

We’re looking forward to the Malham Show today.

It’s always a great day with loads to see and do. There are sheep and cattle classes, working dogs, show jumping, and a lot more.

Plenty of food and drink options... From street food vendors selling wood-fired pizzas and crepes to traditional pies and fish and chips.

Events on the day include the fell races, children's sports, egg throwing, and a charity auction of local produce. Oh, and don't forget the fun dog show.

Admission is £10, and under 16s are free. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth a visit, and only a half-hour drive from us.

More details here 👉

There is plenty to see at Malham Show, from sheep & cattle, horses & working dogs to music and even axemen displays!
