We are delighted to see this project moving forward. Public safety was highlighted as a concern during the consultation we carried out as part of the Local Place Plan development, so it's encouraging to see action being taken. This is a positive step towards creating a safer and more welcoming town centre for residents, businesses and visitors alike.

Inverurie Town Centre to Benefit from New CCTV Investment

Plans are progressing to introduce a modern CCTV system in Inverurie town centre, aimed at improving community safety, supporting local businesses, and enhancing the overall town centre experience.

The project is being delivered by We are Inverurie - BID with support from Aberdeenshire Council, with funding secured through developer obligations. The use of this funding has been made possible following agreement from the relevant developer, Bruce Allan from Malcolm Allan Housebuilders, enabling the project to move forward.

Derek Ritchie, BID Manager, We Are Inverurie Business Improvement District (BID) said:

“This project has been a long-standing priority for Inverurie BID, its member businesses and the local community. It is about protecting investment, supporting our town centre and ensuring Inverurie remains a place where people feel safe to live, work and visit. We are delighted to be spearheading the introduction of CCTV and strengthening confidence in the town centre for our member businesses and locals alike."

The system will provide high-quality surveillance coverage across key areas of the town centre and will be operated by Police Scotland.

The introduction of CCTV responds to long-standing feedback from local businesses and the community, where safety and public reassurance have been consistently identified as priorities.

Once installed, the system will help deter anti-social behaviour, support crime prevention, and provide valuable evidence to assist Police Scotland in investigating incidents. It is also expected to support the evening and night-time economy by creating a safer and more welcoming environment for residents and visitors.

Councillor Ewenson, Chair of the Garioch Area Committee, added:

"This is a significant step forward for Inverurie. The introduction of a town centre CCTV system reflects the priorities of our communities and businesses, who have consistently highlighted the importance of safety and reassurance. This investment will help create a safer, more welcoming environment and support the continued vitality of the town centre."

The project will now progress through procurement, with installation expected following completion of the tender process and final site agreements. Once operational, the system will form part of a broader approach to supporting Inverurie’s town centre, alongside ongoing investment, events and place-based initiatives.

Important Notice: Saturday 13th/ Sunday 14th JUNE

Inverurie Angling Association is hosting the next SNFFL heat, with anglers from across Scotland fishing on the IAA Rivers Don and Urie. To help fully accommodate this event, they would kindly ask permit holders to refrain from fishing the Burgh waters (Don and Ury all sections) from 1700 hours on Saturday 13 June until 1700 hours on Sunday 14 June 2026.

This competition presents an excellent opportunity for anglers and spectators of all ages, to observe some of Scotland’s finest river trout anglers in action, and we hope it will be an enjoyable occasion for the local angling community.

Inverurie Angling Association and SNFFL Organisers appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

It's great to see new facilities being added to Ury Riverside Park. Every visitor uses the park differently, so having a range of options helps make the space more welcoming, accessible and enjoyable for everyone. We look forward to seeing people make use of the new additions as the park continues to develop. 🌳😊

Following on from our recent post about the leaning posts, we've now completed the installation of the leaning posts, bike rack and buddy bench at Ury Riverside Park.

The leaning posts are designed as a resting point for people who may find it difficult or uncomfortable to sit down and get back up again. They provide support while standing and can be a useful alternative to a traditional bench.

The new bike rack gives cyclists a convenient place to secure their bikes while enjoying the park, and the buddy bench is there to encourage conversation and connection, helping people feel welcome and included.

We hope these additions make the park even more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

You may have been wondering what these are 👀

Our new leaning posts have now been installed at Ury Riverside Park and will be available for use very soon once the fencing is removed.

We’ve just been along to Inverurie & District Men's Shed open day and had a great time! Lovely people, fantastic items and we’re very happy with our purchases.

We picked up some beautiful handmade wooden pieces crafted by the Men’s Shed team – a turned wooden pear, a lovely rustic wooden bowl and a handcrafted wooden serving platter.

Amazing workmanship and something really special to take home. Plus the sandwiches are ace too! 😄

It’s on until 3pm today, so if you’re nearby pop along and show your support.
