Disappointing to see North Mound (The Witches) covered in litter again following the great job done by Houston Community Council and Bee Happy volunteers. Police time being wasted, fires being lit at times of wildfire risk, rubbish and broken glass in livestock fields and horses being frightened is not Responsible Access!

There is an extreme risk of wildfire across the whole of Scotland from today until Saturday, 2 May.

We know many people across Scotland will be wanting to enjoy the good weather across the bank holiday weekend. We ask that everyone does so responsibly.

Thursday 23rd - Sunday 26th April
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is issuing wildfire warnings across multiple areas of Scotland for the coming weekend.

The weather has been so wet, how can there be fire risk?
During late winter/spring there is more dead vegetation (fuel) combined with low humidity making it more susceptible to ignition and faster burning.
