Keep in mind! It is a legal requirement to keep your dog on the lead from March 1st - July 31st every year here in the Peaks on open access land. Let's keep our dogs and everything around them safe!

🐕 Keep Dogs Under Control — Protect Our Wildlife & Livestock 🐑

Exploring the Peak District National Park with your dog is one of life’s simple pleasures… but it comes with responsibility.

Much of the Peak District is working farmland, and livestock like sheep and cattle can be easily stressed or injured by dogs — even the most friendly and well-behaved ones.

👉 Always keep your dog on a lead around livestock
👉 Stick to marked paths and follow local signage
👉 Never allow chasing — it can have serious consequences

Ground-nesting birds and other wildlife are also at risk, especially during spring and summer. Keeping your dog under control helps protect these fragile habitats 🐦

It’s not about stopping the fun — it’s about making sure everyone (including the animals!) stays safe.

Do your bit and help us keep the Peaks a safe and welcoming place for all 🌿💚
