❄️ 🥶 Last night I slept rough - no tent, no airbed, no food, no luxuries, just a thin foam mat on the freezing cold ground, a sleeping bag & a tarp slung up overhead.
The wind cut right through the shelter and the temperature dropped in the early hours and I barely slept. It was a very long, uncomfortable night laying on the ground on just 1cm of foam … and it was only one night (although I am going for a repeat again though tonight too!)
Imagine facing that every single night.
That’s the reality many veterans have endured after leaving service. That’s why I did this - to raise awareness and vital funds for (RBVE), a charity that’s been helping ex-service personnel and people with disabilities find jobs, homes, and hope since 1919.
One cold, uncomfortable night taught me something powerful: the incredible resilience, discipline, and quiet strength our veterans bring with them. These are exactly the qualities that make them outstanding employees and team members in any business.
Supporting RBVE isn’t just about doing good but it’s smart for business too.
When companies hire veterans, they gain loyal, high-performing talent while building stronger communities.
So I’m turning to you, my friends and network:
🇬🇧 Who else has slept rough or knows what real cold feels like at night?
🇬🇧 If you’ve ever worked with a veteran, drop a comment and tell us what they brought to your team.
🇬🇧 Most importantly, if you can, please donate even a small amount. Every pound helps a veteran move from the streets into stable housing and meaningful work.
