🚂 In Pickering from the 24th–27th September? You’ve picked a good weekend!

The Annual Steam Gala is back on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, and it’s definitely worth adding to your plans while you’re here.

Expect plenty of steam trains, special locomotives, and that lovely nostalgic feel the railway does so well, all with the beautiful North York Moors as the backdrop. And even if you’re not a huge railway enthusiast, there’s something pretty special about seeing the steam trains roll into Pickering station!🚂🍂

There's a difference between visiting Pickering for the day and actually getting to stay here...

You can have a wander around town without clock-watching, stop somewhere for dinner, decide tomorrow's plans over a drink, and you know you've only got a short stroll back to Iris Cottage afterwards.

That's one thing our guests love the most; you get to enjoy the town at your own pace, rather than just passing through🏡💜

If you're visiting with the family, Flamingo Land Resort is an easy one to add to the itinerary🎢

Spend the day making your way around the rides, visiting the zoo, and keeping the kids entertained, then head back to Pickering when you’ve had enough excitement for one day😅

It’s one of the reasons Iris Cottage works so well for family stays. You can have a full day out without a long journey back afterwards (it's less than a ten-minute drive away!)
