🚜🌿 Countryside Stewardship Capital Grants Reopening This July 🌿🚜

🌳The Countryside Stewardship Capital Grants scheme is set to reopen in July with £225 million of funding available nationally to support environmental improvements on farms.

These grants can provide valuable funding for a range of environmental improvements. Further to the reintroduction of the Capital Grants, there are now caps to the funding available…
✅ Up to £25,000 for Water Quality items such as concrete yard renewal and roofing.
✅ Up to £25,000 for Air Quality items such as automatic slurry scrapers.
✅ Up to £25,000 for Natural Flood Managementitems such as leaky woody dams and floodplain restoration.
✅ Up to £35,000 for Boundaries, Trees & Orchardsitems such as hedgerow planting and stone wall restoration.

🚜 SFI26 Update – Window 1 Opening Soon 🌱

DEFRA has now released further information about the new Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI26) scheme, with the first application window due to open from 30th June 2026.

Before this opening, a small number of farmers who are eligible for window 1 will be invited to apply from around 18th June. This is to test and refine the application service in a controlled way.

Window 1 will be available to:
✅ Small farms (under 50 hectares)
✅ Farms without an existing Environmental Land Management (ELM) revenue agreement

The window is expected to remain open for around 2 months, although it could close earlier if available funding is fully allocated.

Farmers who may be eligible should start preparing now by:
✔️ Checking RPA maps and land details
✔️Planning the options they are looking at applying for
✔️ Ensuring contact information is up to date
✔️ Reviewing permissions within the Rural Payments Service

A second application window is scheduled to open in September 2026 for all eligible farmers and land managers.

Today we've been "hanging out" at Taylors Farm Shop for National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs lancashire county rally!

Our HANG TOUGH was a big hit and Alec from Longridge YFC was the winner of the £50 amazon voucher with a time of 3minutes and 3 seconds!

HOWEVER, after we had given the prize out and were packing up the van, we had a young visitor from Bilsborrow YFC who beat him by 3 seconds! We couldn't let him go empty handed so have decided to give him an EXTRA £20 voucher for his last minute effort!

Thanks to Kerry, Mike and Rachel for manning the stand and putting their own respectable times in!

🌱SUSTAINABLE FARMING INCENTIVE - WINDOW 1 OPENS JUNE 2026🌱

🚨The first window of the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) is due to open in June for small farms (less than 50 hectares) and also farms who do not have an existing environmental stewardship agreement.

✅If you are considering applying, now is the time to start preparing your application. Early preparation will ensure your application is ready to submit as soon as the window opens.

📈Options available include:
- Manage grassland with very low nutrient inputs @ £151/ha
- Haymaking supplement @ £157/ha
- Haymaking supplement (late cut) @ £187/ha
- Maintain weatherproof traditional farm buildings @ £5/m2
- Winter bird food on arable and horticultural land @ £648/ha
