The hardest part about building a business isn’t the long hours. It’s forgetting the little things that once made you happy.

The other day, I remembered that baking is one of mine.

Running a business from home means every spare minute somehow finds its way back into work. You blink, and months go by without doing something simply because you enjoy it.

This weekend, I switched off for a few hours, made baklava from scratch, and took it to a dinner party. It reminded me that slowing down isn’t unproductive it gives you the space to reconnect with the parts of yourself you’ve quietly put on hold.

One of the most common things I see on my inspection runs is ranch sliders secured like this. I reckon almost everyone does it. Do you?

It’s funny because I see this all the time, especially around South Auckland. Just a bit of timber in the track, and suddenly everyone sleeps a little better.

It’s not Fort Knox, but it’s simple, cheap, and it works.

If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll remember the days of driving all over Auckland just to get a bond refund form signed. 🚗📄

As an Auckland Property Manager, I’ve seen the process change dramatically. While I know some landlords and tenants are still getting used to Bond Hub, I have to admit I ❤️ it.

Today, bond refunds can often be completed from the comfort of home. No more chasing paper forms or travelling across the city. Once the request is submitted, tenants simply review it and digitally sign it.

Tenant tips to help avoid delays:
✔️ Keep your Tenant Number somewhere safe.

✔️ If your email address changes, let your property manager know before your tenancy ends.

✔️ Check your junk or spam folder for emails from Tenancy Services.

✔️ Agree on the bond refund amount with your landlord or property manager before submitting the request.

As a South Auckland Property Manager, my goal is to make moving in and moving out as smooth as possible for both landlords and tenants. The new digital process is a great step towards faster, more efficient bond refunds.
