Personally I see a combination of things that might happen. International lead governments marketing international agendas. Controlled energy, food, money. Shift to Central bank digital currency CBDC? To benefit from the system you have to know the system but we are so busy working to pay the bills to keep up. Technology is moving faster and faster. Ai technology can work for us and against us. Will privacy law and freedom of choice even be a thing anymore with digital information and digital controls? It’s difficult to plan for something that’s never happened before. Marketing is so important when selling your home but I have also witnessed the power of marketing to comply with government agenda. While I don’t have the answers I do believe we must keep aware and not let a top notch marketing campaign blur our discernment of vision about what is good and what is not. Sometimes bad is dressed up as good “save lives” “environmentally friendly” “technology saves money and time”. Let discernment, love for our people/land and wisdom guide our nation in what is to come. Our ancestors paved a way to what rights we have today. I hope we build on those paths not destroy them.

42 million, what is odd to me is the fact that the buyer made an unconditional offer prior to auction day. Auction happened and the article says no other bidder was higher. I wonder how much would they have paid had they not put in the pre auction offer. The video annoys me because it seems more focussed on advertising the agents rather than the beauty of the home. I would prefer to see more home than agents.

Back to school for many children this week. It’s always difficult to get out of holiday mode. Here is a brief overview of stats for December. While it’s dropped they believe it is slowing and starting to settle. I hope so. Unfortunately my nice low mortgage interest rate will come to an end soon. Looking at the interest rates today it’s a floating rate of 7.99% is more than double what I am paying now. But I am sure if you have parents in their 70s they would surly tell you it’s been far worse. Regardless it still hurts combined with the inflation. I paid $10.30 dozen for size 7 eggs the other day which made me appreciate eggs in a whole different way. Telling my kids not to break any 😂. To all the parents out there well done getting through Xmas, egg shortage, and those dealing with flooding while preparing uniforms and school books. Your amazing and we often forget to give ourselves pats on the back and recognition. Have a good week.

I have been enjoying the morning air on the kids trampoline. Writing, reflecting on the year that is about to pass and planning for 2023. Then my daughter brought brunch out to me. Bacon and egg muffin with a smoothie and Lolly cake. It’s a lovely day 😃

Market Update
0.9% Drop in Canterbury when compared to October last year.
Marlborough was up by 20.7% to a Median price of $781,000, reaching a new record. Something positive covid did achieve is more opportunities for flexible working measures. I have even heard of someone crossing the ditch to live in New Zealand. Working from home while being employed in Australia. Marlborough would be a attractive destination for someone in that situation.
Christchurch City Median price Oct 2021 $679,000 compared to Oct 2022. $650,000. While it is expected with the comparison of interest rates, it’s not something to cry about. 452 properties sold in Christchurch last month compared to 711 in October last year.
