🌸 Term 3 was supposed to be all about welcoming new babies this spring… 🐑🐐🐣

We had so many exciting plans for Abraham Acres — welcoming the newest little arrivals on the farm, opening our gates to daycares, kōhanga reo and home-based childcare, and creating fun, hands-on farm experiences for little ones to enjoy. ❤️

But sometimes life has other plans.

Instead of spending these weeks out on the farm preparing for spring and welcoming visitors, I’ve spent nearly two weeks lying in a hospital bed following 2 surgery’s and complications, with recovery still ahead of me once I finally get home.

It’s definitely not how I imagined Term 3 would look.

There’s been a lot of disappointment at my end in having to put things on hold, especially when we had so many wonderful groups booked in.

But the animals are still here, spring is still coming, and those little farm babies are still waiting to be welcomed. 🐑🐐🐣🌱

So for now, Abraham Acres is taking a little unexpected pause while I focus on getting better.

We’ll be back. ❤️

A little note for anyone who has booked something with me for September — if I haven’t messaged you personally about your booking, please send me a message! I’m doing my best to keep up with everything, but it’s surprisingly hard keeping track of bookings and messages when I don’t have my trusty notebook with me in hospital. 🤦‍♀️😂

I’m really sorry if I’ve missed anyone or haven’t gotten back to you. It’s certainly not intentional!

New Donkey Alert! Meet Aurora

Knight was super happy to be reunited with a friend of his. We picked up Aurora today from Ann at Donnbrae English/Irish Donkeys NZ same place we got Knight from. Who can say no to Donkeys!

Saturday We welcomed 15 new pullets! The eggs are much smaller than the size 10ish jumbo eggs we were getting from the older girls we had.

Part of the junior farmer experience is collecting their eggs 🥚 hands-on, farm-style learning where they can get up close with our animals, help with real farm jobs, and discover where their food comes from. 💚👩‍🌾👨‍🌾
