This week I had the pleasure of sitting down for a chat with Sarah Tyler - Founder of https://dstilproject.nz/, Head Distiller, GINstructor and New Zealand Spirit Awards Judge.

As a 'GINstructor’ Sarah teaches others to distil their own gin at her incredibly popular Gin School. As a distiller she produces Coatesvillian Gin using locally grown botanicals

🌱 Since childhood Sarah’s been a plant-aholic. Returning from the UK, she wanted a project incorporating her love of plants and their properties. Sarah initially planned to launch a botanical skincare brand. This led to a distilling course where she sat watching an instructor show the class ‘how to do it’. Sarah realised two things –

1) She’d much rather be hands-on with the still rather than watch a demonstration

2) Distilling gin was more her thing than essential oils.

🌱 These revelations led to New Zealand's first Gin School (launched 2019) and inadvertently a licensed distillery as well.

🌱 Come and hear more about what inspired her, and how a good dose of naivety can be just what's required to start a business.
