🏡 3 properties. 3 new tenancies. One very busy week!

One property never even made it to market. We already had the right tenant waiting and were able to make the perfect match.

The other two? Over 20 groups through the doors! 😅

Viewings, applications, vetting, reference checks, agreements, ingoing inspections and plenty of conversations later… three homes are RENTED! 🙌

We love helping Golden Bay locals find homes, and helping people move to the Bay to fill skilled roles our local businesses need.

Good housing supports good people, local businesses and our community. That’s why we love what we do. 💚

And we still have some great tenants waiting.

Birthdays always bring out the nostalgia in me, and today is Mickayla’s birthday, so I’m going to embarrass her with a public display of affection. 😘

I met Mickayla when she first moved to the Bay about four years ago. I was pretty excited that there was finally another property manager around who I could bounce ideas off and call when I had a tricky situation.

She had far more experience than I did and a huge amount of knowledge to share. I’m pretty sure I caught her off guard initially with the sheer volume of questions I fired at her 😂 but she quickly warmed up to me.

We started brainstorming ideas about doing property management differently, and somewhere in amongst all those conversations, the BayStays seed was planted.

Then life changed, as it does. I left property management entirely, and Mickayla went on to single handedly build BayStays from scratch. Through experience, tenacity and sheer force of will, she created something pretty bloody special.

Early last year, I approached her and asked if there might be a place for me to come back into property management and join BayStays.

She didn’t hesitate.

She welcomed me with open arms. Then, because apparently letting me through the door wasn’t enough, she even made me a co owner 😂

And that decision meant more to me than I think she will ever fully understand.

Golden Bay is an incredible place to live, but it’s certainly not a thriving metropolis with endless career opportunities. Sometimes you either find a way to make life here work, or you’re forced to leave.

At that point in my life, my family was getting pretty close to the latter.

So when Mickayla said yes to me joining her, she didn’t just give me a job or a business opportunity. In a very real way, she gave my family the ability to keep building our life here.

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to properly put into words how grateful I am for that.

And since then, she has graciously put up with me coming into the business she built and saying, “Soooo, I’ve had an idea…” approximately 47 times a week. 😂

We brainstorm. We trial things. We get things right. We get things spectacularly wrong. We move three steps forward and occasionally two steps back. We challenge each other, learn from each other and keep evolving BayStays together.

Through all of it, she continues to be generous, supportive and accepting of me and all my crazy ideas.

So today I just want everyone to celebrate Mickayla with me.

Because she isn’t just the woman behind BayStays.

She’s an incredibly supportive mum. A coach. A board member. A school parent helper. A friend. A business owner. A problem solver. And about a hundred other things depending on what day of the week it is.

So much of her time is spent helping other people, supporting other people and making sure everyone else’s lives run that little bit more smoothly.

That takes a pretty special person.

Happy Father’s Day to all the great dads and father figures out there 💚

But a special one from us to the men behind BayStays… because we really do love our mens 😂

To our husbands, thank you for backing the crazy idea of starting a property management company that genuinely cares about our community.

Thank you for listening to the constant tapping of our laptops while you’re trying to relax…

The “babe, can you give us a hand with something?”

The “what are you doing Saturday?” which you now know is NEVER an innocent question 😂

The unexpected furniture moving, maintenance missions, trailer towing, sign putting up and the occasional “want to come help us clean a house?”

And for listening to far more property management chat than any husband should reasonably have to.

We genuinely couldn’t do what we do without the support we have at home. BayStays might be our crazy idea, but our families are a huge part of what allows us to make it work. 💚

And of course, to our own dads. Mickayla’s are across the ditch in Aussie, while Jenna’s dad is literally in the backyard and remains BayStays’ unofficial #1 Facebook supporter 😂 with her father-in-law just around the corner.

Near or far, we have some pretty great men in our corner.
