Sharing a slice of the Te Anau we love — you're never far from good coffee, and you're never far from people you know.

Known locally as the Merchant, it's one of our favourite spots for a meeting over coffee, grabbing a bite between viewings, or a team cafe treat. You're always bumping into familiar faces, and Jen and the team have your order memorised before you know it!

Only in Te Anau. 💛

One of the highlights of the school's recent Polar Plunge fundraiser: a full mock police chase, all over a pinched lolly jar. 🍭

Our sneaky thief gave everyone the runaround. The police chase got the stolen goods back, but the thief herself was still on the loose — and it took and Fiordland Marine Search and Rescue swooping in to finally bring her in.

You certainly don't get this everywhere: a fundraiser where the whole town gets involved and puts on a show, all to help the Year 6s head off on camp.

We're pretty lucky to call it home.

Meet Melissa 👋 with roots in Te Anau, she found her way back. We're glad she did.

🏡 How long have you been with the team, and what brought you here?

I grew up in Te Anau as a child and then moved to Christchurch with family. I returned to Te Anau for a holiday where I met my partner. I have now lived in Te Anau for almost 2 years and have been working in an administration role at Ray White for about 1 1/2 years.

⭐ What's your favourite part of the job?

My favourite part of the job is a Friday. As much as it's the end of the week, Friday is also when I sit at the front desk at reception. I get to deal to contracts, phone calls, and chat to people when they come into the office. I find doing the 'behind the scenes' part of the job fun and get satisfaction from having tidy systems, and keeping things structured and smooth.

🌅 What do you love about living in Te Anau?

I love anything to do around being by the lake. Since moving to Te Anau, my sister and friends have gotten me into running, so sometimes we run or walk along the lakefront. It's a great way to catch up with one another when there's a spare minute and the views definitely aren't bad either. Especially during sunrise or sunset - chef's kiss!

🤝 What's something people moving here don't realise until they've lived here a while?

How close people in the community actually are. People are so helpful and supportive. If there's a fundraiser, people trying something new, sports teams, school events or anything in general, people and businesses in the community get behind one another. You are also highly likely to bump into someone you know in the street or at a shop and it's always really nice to give a wave or stop for a chat as you go about your day.

🛠️ What's something about you that might surprise people?

I like to get out and get my hands dirty. I love a challenge. Whether it's a DIY project, getting stuck in outside, or just trying something new, I find satisfaction in just giving it a go and getting it done.

While Steph swore she was cold just thinking about the water and would be the one on the shore with a hot chocolate, our eyes on the ground say she eagerly jumped right in. 🥶🤸🏼‍♀️

Leave work, and five minutes later you can be doing this.

One of our agents, Nathan, and his dog Ziggy on one of their favourite spots along the Te Anau lakefront trail winding down at the end of the day.

If you live here, you know the feeling. No traffic lights on the commute, heading for the trail before work, after work, or on a lunch break. It's that bit of Fiordland magic that really is just right there.
