Rant time. I didn’t even mention at least 50 important things we do that make working with a great (not meh) real estate agent or team is going to always get you the best result as a seller or buyer.
I’m genuinely happy that the folks who talk about selling their home—in the Hudson Valley no less—had a great experience with their sale, although I really do think they would’ve ended up with more $$$ and should be very grateful that the transaction seemed to have needed zero advanced problem solving which js so very rarely the case….
Anyways. We for sure already have buyers and sellers coming to us with info from ChatGPT or Claude or whatever that’s just wrong, is wrong for our area, or is wrong for the particular transaction.
This stuff is subtle. To do it really well requires so much knowledge of the market, the areas, the various players involved (attorneys, banks, inspectors, specialists, etc)
We do so much online also but we spend and have spent lots of time face to face with people and inside houses to see things that OBVIOUSLY a chat advisor can’t see …
Ugh. Anyways. This one makes me both frustrated that we clearly aren’t doing a great job about explaining our value as real estate agents but also makes me kind of afraid for a future where we think we’re getting the best info but may not be. :(
