This photo looks like a normal soccer field picture. But to me, it feels like a reminder of why we left New York.
Years ago, when we decided to leave the life we had built there and move back to Northern Virginia, it wasn’t just about real estate. It was about wanting a different kind of day. A day where we could show up for our kids. A day where we could build a career, but still be present for the moments that matter. A day where work, family, sports, clients, and dinner on the way home all somehow fit into one full, messy, beautiful day.
This was one of those days.
On the way to our daughter’s soccer game, I was on a call with one of my sellers reviewing an offer - that home went under contract later that night. During her warmup, I squeezed in a 45-minute walk while I jumped on another real estate call, this time with one of my buyers for an offer strategy session. They were competing against 15 offers. And they won. Then we stopped at Lazy Dog for dinner on the way home.
Was it busy? Absolutely. Was it perfect? Not even close. But it was the exact kind of day we hoped for when we decided to leave New York and build a life back in NOVA.
A life where our kids could grow up with space to play, fields to run on, friends nearby, and a community that actually feels like home. And a career that lets me help other people find their version of that, too. Because sometimes finding the right home is not really about bedrooms, bathrooms, or square footage. It’s about the life you picture yourself living once you get there.
