There is NOTHING to hard for God.
Do you truly believe that? Before you jump to answer that question in a response that is designed to impress others (including yourself), let's make sure you remember something vital.
Heroes of the Faith. The Big Names of the Bible FAILED on this in Real Life.
Let's turn to Genesis for a moment today.
Genesis 18:14 God asked Abraham a very powerful question:
"Is anything too HARD for GOD?"
Paul shared this view of God in the New Testament.
Ephesians 3:20 as: "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,"
When God told 90 year old Sarah and 100 year old Abraham that He would give them a baby, let's just be fully honest here...believing that would require a great deal of deep faith that even though in NO WAY did that make sense that it was NOT TOO HARD FOR GOD.
Sarah would have been served well if as soon as God told her this news of her pending pregnancy and new bundle of joy would have started immediately.
I have found this principal at work in my walk with God: God's promises WILL BLESS YOU but they often WILL TEST YOU FIRST.
As the days passed and Sarah failed to notice any of the signs that God was keeping HIS WORD.
She wanted this baby. She wanted her husband to be the Father of Many Nations. She was TEAM BABY and TEAM GOD'S PROMISES.
When the days continued on and on and on with no signs of her pregnancy Sarah decided GOD needed HER HELP to KEEP HIS WORD.
Read that again.
God came and promised the IMPOSSIBLE to Sarah and Abraham.
When the promise did not fit the self appointed timeline, Sarah decided that to Keep God's Word for God---she would have her husband sleep with another women and have that union create a baby.
God allowed this but did not ordain this. It was not HIS PLAN. It was NOT HIS PROMISE.
Sarah was saying--God said I should have a baby it's been a long time since He promised me this that I should take matters in my own hands. Abraham, by his actions outside of God's plan, reveal his deep doubt and failure here as well.
God's promise was that Abraham would with his wife have a child.
God asked Abraham the question if there was anything too hard for Him to do and in ACTIONS---in essence---responded that God was able to promise but NOT bring it about.
They both learned quickly that DOUBTING GOD HINDERS YOUR PROGRESS TOWARDS YOUR PROMISES.
Sarah and Abraham found out that their FAILURE was not God's FAILURE.
God's PROMISE WAS REAL. IT DID COME TO PASS.
Sarah and Abraham saw that their real answer to the question of if anything was too hard for GOD was actually YES.
They both thought GOD couldn't or wouldn't so they acted.
They would live with issues that came from their lack of faith for years.
Their failure to believe in what God said God could do and would hinder their full joy when they received the PROMISE.
Yet, God allowed it but did not ordain it. Sarah and Abraham did lose from their actions in unbelief.
God still held to His Word...to HIS PROMISE.
Abraham became the Father of a Nation. God's People. God's chosen people still happened.
I believe Sarah and Abraham had many moments when they wished they had just believed.
God was faithful to His Word even despite the failure of the chosen receivers of the Promise.
Don't doubt God.
If you are thinking God has not made such a BOLD Promise to you like this promise He made to Sarah and Abraham.
Oh yes He has.
This story is taken from the pages of Genesis. Every single page you read in the Holy Scriptures are God's Promises to you and me.
Forgiveness.
Eternal Life.
The Holy Spirit.
Heaven.
ALL BOLD PROMISES OF GOD TO THOSE WHO ARE REDEEMED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST.
God is speaking to you today.
Chose to believe HIM.
Hear the PROMISES.
ACCEPT the Promises.
Don't Delay the Promises with Disobedience.
God loves you.
