96th Street Bridge Replacement – Timeline Update

Stone Harbor’s $30M replacement of the 96th Street Bridge now has a published schedule from Cape May County Commissioners:


• Fall 2027–Spring 2028: Old bridge comes down — no crossing at all during this stretch.


• Summer 2028: A temporary span goes in so traffic can still move through peak season.


• 2028–2029: The permanent new span gets installed and tested.


• Late 2029–Early 2030: Full completion targeted.

Bottom line: expect a full closure over the 2027–28 off-season, a workaround bridge for summer 2028, and the finished bridge by the end of 2029 or early 2030.
