Time to file your property tax exemptions! 🏡✨
If you bought a home, refinanced, or changed your deed in 2025, make sure your Homestead Exemption is filed correctly. Most title companies submit it at closing, but mistakes happen and the county won’t notify you… so it’s smart to double-check.
What you should do:
• Verify your homestead exemption is filed on your property.
• If it isn’t, go ahead and file it.
• Always get written proof that it’s been filed.
• You have until December 31st to fix any issues.
What is the Homestead Exemption?
It’s a property tax deduction for homeowners who live in their home as their primary residence. It can reduce your taxable value by 60% or up to $45,000. You can only claim a homestead in one state.
