🌊 Fun Fact Friday 🌊

Bella Vista was originally developed as a summer resort centered around lake recreation, and today those seven lakes offer everything from boating and skiing to fishing and kayaking.

The largest of them, Loch Lomond, covers approximately 477 acres and is the biggest lake in Bella Vista.

While I was enjoying the beach this week, it reminds me that one of the things that makes Bella Vista so special is that you don’t have to travel far to enjoy life on the water. ☀️🚤🌊

Did you know Americans eat an estimated 10 billion donuts every year?

That’s enough donuts to stretch from Bella Vista to Fayetteville … and then around the world many times over! 🌎

Some of my favorite memories are the simple ones…taking my kids out for donuts after school, grabbing a sweet treat after a tough day, or making an ordinary Tuesday a little more special with some extra time together.

Since today is National Donut Day, consider supporting one of Northwest Arkansas’ local donut shops and treating yourself to a sweet start to the weekend. Some local favorites include Rick’s Bakery, Parlour Donuts, Challelujah Bakery, Love’s Donuts, and so many more.

With swimming pools opening up across Northwest Arkansas last weekend, I thought this would be a fun one! 🏊☀️

Did you know the first indoor swimming pool in Arkansas was right here in Northwest Arkansas?

Opened in August 1901 at the Monte Ne resort near Rogers, the 25-by-50-foot pool was built by Hal Harvey and Ernest Halliday. It used flowing spring water and even featured a wood-fired boiler that heated part of the pool—pretty impressive for over 120 years ago!

The bathhouse included a 7-foot-deep indoor pool, springboards, slides, individual dressing rooms, and even a two-lane bowling alley. Admission was 25 cents, and if you needed a swimsuit and towel, that was another 25 cents.

Monte Ne was once one of Arkansas’ premier resort destinations, and while much of it now lies beneath Beaver Lake, it’s fascinating to imagine families enjoying one of the state’s most unique swimming spots more than a century ago.
