I want to try something a little different here… 👀🏡
What the client sees vs. what a home inspector sees!
Unfortunately, we come across situations like this far too often, particularly with homes that have been recently purchased, renovated, and flipped for resale. While many of these properties feature beautiful finishes and modern upgrades, the quality of workmanship behind those improvements can vary significantly.
There are certainly investors and contractors who take pride in their work, but we’ve also encountered plenty of renovations where corners have been cut along the way. What concerns me most is when those shortcuts compromise the safety, health, or well-being of the people who will eventually call these properties, their home.
This home is a perfect example. Beyond its updated appearance, we discovered roof leaks (on a 6 year old roof), electrical hazards throughout, HVAC deficiencies, moisture-related damage, suspected mold growth, poor insulation throughout the attic space, low water level at the pool skimmer, and numerous other issues requiring attention.
This isn’t meant to discourage anyone from purchasing a renovated home. There are plenty of quality renovations performed by reputable contractors! However, a beautiful renovation doesn’t always mean the home’s major systems and components have been properly evaluated, repaired, or upgraded.
Our goal is simple: to help homebuyers understand exactly what they’re purchasing so they can make confident, informed decisions.
A thorough home inspection is one of the most important steps in protecting your investment. Not all home inspections are created equal, so make sure you hire the right inspector for the job! 🔍🏡
