I just recorded one of the most powerful conversations I’ve ever had on the podcast. This week we sat down with Michelle Renee, and her story is one of those that stays with you long after you hear it.
Michelle ran away from home at 15, fought her way into a successful banking career, and built a life for her daughter. Then everything changed in one night when she and her 7-year-old daughter were kidnapped and forced to rob the bank she worked at. The fear, the trauma, the survival instinct… it’s hard to even imagine. Her story ended up on 48 Hours and in books, but what’s blown me away is everything she’s done since.
She completely rebuilt her life. She left the corporate world, moved to Alaska, started a photography and videography business, wrote books, and found a way to turn trauma into art, healing, and purpose.
This episode isn’t about the crime as much as it is about resilience, identity, and choosing who you become after life breaks you open. Michelle is one of the strongest, most grounded people I’ve ever talked to, and I’m really grateful she trusted us with her story.
If you need inspiration, perspective, or just a reminder of what humans are capable of, listen to this one. This is why we do the podcast.
