US citizens, please take a moment to recognize that our boundary waters, a pristine lake wilderness on the border of Minnesota and Canada, is at immediate threat from copper sulfide mining. You can email your Representatives easily at https://www.savetheboundarywaters.org/BWCA-action2026

A foreign mining company wants to develop on land adjacent to this wilderness, ship the metal overseas and leave behind toxic acid mine drainage, polluting the sensitive watershed. Mining here was banned in 2023 after 675,000 people wrote in asking for it.

A representative has proposed dropping these protections and permanently stopping future administrations from putting them back. A vote in Congress containing this proposal can happen as early as this week.
