James Milner, CCIM was proud to be part of the announcement by Appalachian Regional Healthcare System regarding their new Tri-Share agreement. Partnering with local childcare staples like Kid Cove, this pilot program makes our region a leader in the state for addressing a massive friction point for working families.

By splitting childcare costs cleanly into thirds between the state, the employer, and the employee parent, we are seeing true public-private alignment to solve a community crisis.

Trust me, we tried begging The Home Depot to come to Boone. 🛠️ ⛰️ We love supporting local, but every resident has wondered why certain major national retail chains pass on Boone, NC.

But big-box retailers don't make decisions based on emotion or local wishes. They look at a single, hard fundamental: rooftops. Before a massive retail chain commits to the millions of dollars it takes to build a location, their data algorithms demand a specific volume of permanent residential development. Without those numbers, it's usually a no.

This week, James Milner, CCIM, was at the Super Bowl of retail real estate: ICSC Las Vegas. With three conferences in one, it was a jam-packed agenda of professional development, meetings, and networking. From the Placer.ai Proptech Reception to the "Let's Get Social" party, plus logging 20,000+ steps a day on the show floor, it was evident that retail real estate is healthy and vibrant. James had the opportunity to connect with brokers, developers, and retail leaders to bring greater insight and fresh opportunities home to Boone and the High Country.
