WE HAD SOME VISITORS AT SALT FORK! 🌲

Pulled up to the cabins and found the sweetest little welcome committee waiting for us… Momma and her two babies!

And yes—seeing a doe with twins is actually pretty common. Whitetail deer commonly have twins, especially healthy, mature does with good access to food. In fact, twins make up a large portion of fawn births in many whitetail populations.

Here’s another neat piece of nature: fawns are born with almost no scent, which helps protect them from predators. Momma will often leave her babies hidden and return periodically to nurse them, keeping her distance so she doesn't lead predators straight to them.

Nature has a way of reminding us that there is so much happening around us if we simply slow down long enough to notice.

Some messages remind us that what we do is about so much more than providing a place to stay. ❤️

We recently received a note from a guest who stayed at Peaceful Pines Lodge near Salt Fork Lake State Park in Cambridge, Ohio. (We are sharing their experience with their permission as it touched our hearts.)

When they booked their family getaway, they weren't sure if their adult son—who uses a power wheelchair, depends on a ventilator, and requires specialized medical equipment—would be able to join them. Their plans changed unexpectedly, and they prayed the cabin would work for their family's unique needs.

To their delight, Peaceful Pines Lodge offered the space they needed, allowing their family to focus on what mattered most...being together.

Their message ended with these words:

"We try our best to include our son in everything we do, and this trip meant so much to our family that we were finally able to include him. Even though you don't advertise as being handicap accessible, it was perfect for our needs. Not only could we get him into the cabin, but there was so much room for his wheelchair and medical supplies. We have already booked our visit for next year!”

Our cabins/cottages are within minutes of a drive to the Salt Fork State Park entrance in Cambridge, Ohio.

Salt Fork State Park features 16 scenic hiking trails totaling over 44 miles of natural terrain through Ohio’s largest state park.

Trail maps are hung in each unit and walking sticks are ready for you to use to explore! Guests love we are pet friendly, so their dogs can enjoy it with them. 🦮

Trails range from an easy short hike to those who want more of a challenge.
