On August 18, 2017, The Snapper Villas open its doors to Spoon River College students, on Spoon River College’s campus for the 2017-2018 academic year. The Snapper Villas strive to enhance the higher education experience through creating better living environments. The goal and privilege of The Snapper Villas is to offer premier student housing to its residents. Snapper Villas mission is to offer

the community a living facility for the students of Spoon River College, but also The Villas Life to our residents. The Villas Life represents building a community within our facility that encourages commitment and dedication of resources found at four-year colleges and universities dorms. The Snapper Villas has a constant connection to its residents through coordinated games, such as Billiard tournaments & Baggo tournaments, special events, holiday gatherings, on-site management, secured access as well as tutoring onsite. The Snapper Villas is led by Seth Klinedinst, the Resident Hall Director with the accompaniment of Alex Shake, the Assistant Manager & Maintenance Professional. The Snapper Villas staff both were born and raised in Canton and have longed for student housing to be a part of the community. The Snapper Villa’s hours of operation are 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday during which we are reachable at (309) 998-2467. After 14 years as President, Dr. Curt Oldfield is leaving Spoon River College to become President of Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield. The Board will begin a search for the next SRC President.

Dr. Oldfield's contribution to SRC has been significant. Major initiatives have included increasing retention, expanding workforce development programs and developing strategic partnerships. He also guided the college through several capital projects including construction of the Multipurpose Building, baseball and softball fields on the Canton Campus and development of the new Macomb Campus.
