TODDVILLE, Iowa – The Iowa housing market just dropped a listing that looks like it belongs in Beverly Hills, not a Linn County ridge. Castle Lake Manor in Toddville is on the market for $10.2 million, the highest price for a home in the state of Iowa.

The 13,114-square-foot, 5-bedroom, 7-bath estate sits on about 75.5 private acres at 3187 Feather Ridge Road, with a roughly 15-acre spring-fed lake, a stocked pond, a pool and spa, and trails that make the place feel sealed off from the rest of the map.

It first stunned Dawn Ameling and her husband John when her daughter sent a Facebook post about a castle-like house for sale. Sitting in her Illinois kitchen, she assumed it was some $20 million house from California, until she looked closer and realized, with genuine shock, that the place was in Iowa.

The Ameling family bought the manor in 2020 when it listed near $2.7 million. They then poured millions into renovations, more than what they paid for the house initially. They have now finally put it back onto the market.

What they built seems almost unfair. The house is stitched together with pieces you never see in the Midwest, like European marble mantels, sculptural lighting from Argentina and France, stained glass from Uruguay, a hand-carved mahogany pub from Sheffield, England, and fossil-rich Oklahoma stone, plus 8 fireplaces, a movie theater, offices, a butler’s kitchen, and an English pub.

If $10.2 million feels wild, remember Iowa’s last record sale was $9.5 million in 2024 for Peace Harbor, the 25,000-square-foot Okoboji lakefront mansion with 52 rooms and a replica Irish pub.

The home officially listed this week with Lovell Group, and they are now asking for more than the state’s most famous trophy home ever brought at closing.

In other words, Iowa just put a private lake, a castle silhouette, and a world-class interior on the market, and the number attached to it is big enough to make you reread the address.
