What's all the noise about the August 4th ruling on Florida's property tax amendment? Here are the facts:
A Leon County judge ruled that the ballot title, "Save Our Homes From Excessive Property Taxes," reads more like a political slogan than a neutral explanation of what the amendment does. He also flagged that the summary overstated the exemption. The Attorney General now has 10 days to rewrite that language.
Here's what did not change:
✅ Amendment 3 is still on the November 3, 2026 ballot
✅ $150,000 exemption in 2027, rising to $250,000 in 2028
✅ School district taxes still apply, unchanged
✅ The 5-year rule for new Florida residents
✅ Still requires 60% voter approval to pass
The ruling is about ballot wording, not the amendment's substance. Don't let the headlines confuse you; the core of the amendment is exactly the same as before. Understand the facts, then make your own informed decision on Nov. 3rd.
