Rose Rent Lofts

Rose Rent's surprise harvest was discovered growing in our urban orchard yesterday!

Was also a very bountiful year for our peaches, various apple varieties, pears, and grapes. It's amazing to think that, for decades, this area of our site was a paved parking lot!

Came across this video & song based upon a poem written after the burning of Chambersburg in 1864. The question is: which of the buildings might be our own Rose Rent Lofts? Reconstructed elements of which remain in our building to this day.

1909 Version of the Chambersburg Academy rebuilt from the 1867 rebuild after the 1864 burning of the Latin Academy by the Confederate States of America (which served as the Academy Hospital for the injured soldiers in the immediate aftermath of the battle of Gettysburg), which itself was rebuilt in 1826 on the footprint of the original school building placed on the Chambers family Rose Rent property grant from 1798.

Then of course the 1930-31 reconstruction (which relocated the 3rd floor auditorium (and seats) to the "new" 1930 addition on Queen Street. And the 1958 renovation and, of course, the 2019-21 McKissick reconstruction!.

A lot of history and pieces of all the above remain in todays building!

Welcoming the new year at Rose Rent Lofts!

A wish for a happy and prosperous 2026 to our friends!

A cozy evening at Rose Rent Lofts (our 1908 schoolhouse residence) with Winston, our field administration dog, and Laurie, our abandoned building design consultant, as we contemplate next year's upcoming opportunities and challenges.

An aside - this space, a former high school band room, featured daylight via the holes in the roof and featured collapsed floors, and was in a three-story building abandoned for over 35 years when we acquired the building.

Looking forward to bringing similar successes for our clients this year!
