Welcoming the new year at Rose Rent Lofts!

A wish for a happy and prosperous 2026 to our friends!

A cozy evening at Rose Rent Lofts (our 1908 schoolhouse residence) with Winston, our field administration dog, and Laurie, our abandoned building design consultant, as we contemplate next year's upcoming opportunities and challenges.

An aside - this space, a former high school band room, featured daylight via the holes in the roof and featured collapsed floors, and was in a three-story building abandoned for over 35 years when we acquired the building.

Looking forward to bringing similar successes for our clients this year!

Rose Rent's Christmas gift!

Please to report that a new pair of oversized LG 7.8 cubic foot washers and dryers have been installed in the first-floor shared laundry. Long planned on our part for residents to permit washing larger items that the regular apartment washer/dryers can't handle.

Wayne Thomlinson was the first to test them and reports they are all good!

109 years ago - interesting story on the basketball games played by Chambersburg High School in what is today apartments #103, #104, #105, and the workshop. While they beat the likes of Hagerstown and Lebanon City earlier in the season, they ultimately lost to Altoona HS in the basement of our very own Rose Rent!

Rose Rent Lofts, McKissick Architecture, as well as Kristen and Vern McKissick were honored with the Preservation PA 2025 Construction Award this past Thursday! The awards ceremony was held at the Carrie Blast Furnace, a former forge building now an arts and event center.

Another impossible project, similar to Rose Rent the Carrie Furnace, is a retired blast furnace located along the Monongahela River in the Pittsburgh area industrial town of Swissvale, Pennsylvania. It was one of the structures comprising the Homestead Steel Works.

The Carrie Furnaces were built in 1884, and they operated until 1982. After that, everyone said all that could be done was to demolish it. A group of headstrong folks formed the Rivers of Steel group and are in the midst of a $40 m restoration. Seems a fitting location for the event, given our own similar challenges in Chambersburg.

Who knows, next up Mary B. Sharpe School or Live & Work @ Central might follow in Rose's foot steps....

The Academy football team defeats Chambersburg High School Trogans by a score of 26-0!

The Academy, for those of you who may be unaware is of course, the Chambersburg Latin Academy, our earlier incarnation which still exists as the stone building at the center of our own Rose Rent Lofts!
