The Trump administration plans to announce next week a proposal allowing Americans to tap their 401(k) plans for a home down payment.

White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett told Fox Business that President Donald Trump will unveil the plan in Davos. “We’re still talking about the mechanics of it, but suppose that you put 10% down on a home and then you take 10% of the equity on the home and put it in as an asset in your 401(k), then your 401(k) would grow over time as the value of your house grows,” Hassett said.

“It would be more money for retirement, and you’ll have solved the liquidity constraint problem and gotten yourself a house earlier in life,” he added, citing sharply higher down payments and monthly housing costs in recent years.

With heavy hearts and immense gratitude, we honor the remarkable life of Gramma the Turtle, who passed away at the San Diego Zoo on November 25, 2025 at the extraordinary age of 141.

Gramma was put down with humane euthanasia due to advanced age and bone conditions. 

Born circa 1884, Gramma was a living bridge between eras, a steadfast presence whose calm spirit reminded everyone around her to slow down and savor life.

She leaves behind a legacy of wonder, wisdom, and awe, and a reminder that a long life well-lived is measured not in speed, but in endurance and grace. Though her shell now rests, her story will continue to inspire all who knew of her.

Rest easy, sweet Gramma. Thank you for sharing your time—every precious year of it—with us. 🐢💚

Fannie Mae removes minimum credit score requirement for new home loan applicants starting November 2025.

Fannie Mae has announced a major policy change that could open the door to homeownership for millions of Americans. Beginning November 16, 2025, the agency will remove the current 620 minimum credit score requirement from its Desktop Underwriter (DU) system, allowing more flexibility in how borrowers are evaluated for mortgage approval.
Instead of relying solely on credit scores, Fannie Mae will assess overall financial health through factors like rent payments, bill history, and other consistent payment behaviors—giving a fairer chance to buyers with limited credit history or those rebuilding their financial foundation.

This update is part of a broader effort to expand access to affordable housing and close the racial wealth gap, especially for Black and Brown families who have historically been denied loans due to traditional credit scoring systems.
