🌴Under Contract🌴
32 Montagu is a grand Italianate villa style home constructed in 1854, and has long been one of my favorites in Harleston Village for its handsome double front porches. Designed by Charleston architect Edward C. Jones, noted for using similar detailing in his design for Roper Hospital (see last image for reference), the home has mostly retained its original interior features including marvelous plasterwork, soaring ceilings, four fireplaces, and pocket doors that separate the living room and dining room. Originally planned as a portion of a four-to-six-unit row of dwellings, it has two similarly styled sister properties, and all three buildings were owned by the Tobias family at the time of the Civil War. This will be a special restoration project for a deserving young family that I’m proud to call my clients and friends.
