FYI- Angus and crew are in the neighborhood treating the roads. They are using a chemical mixture that is NOT pet friendly and you won’t want to be tracking it into your house.
This was an unusual storm combined with
prolonged below freezing temps. Hopefully, this will greatly improve the road conditions.

Edit: He has been safely transferred to the Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA

Edit: When we tried to get the cat to put into a cat carrier, he ran off into the woods. We will try again if he comes back.

Santa Claus is trading in his sleigh for a fire truck this holiday season! Join Albemarle County Fire Rescue as we spread festive cheer throughout the community.

Keep your eyes peeled and your ears tuned for the sound of holiday sirens as Santa and his firefighter helpers cruise through local neighborhoods atop a decked-out fire truck. It's a magical tradition you won’t want to miss!

Fire trucks and Santa will stop at the route locations marked with an asterisk. All other locations are drive by (travel route will remain on main and connecting roads). Times are approximate.

Mark your calendars, gather the family, and wave hello as Santa brings some holiday joy your way!

Neighbors, not sure what everybody is doing this year for Halloween trick-or-treating but this first year in 24 years that we will not been passing out Candy! We are sorry to miss out and will see you again next year! Have fun, be safe and if possible might stop by somebody else's house to just say hi! 🎃👻💀And Happy 43rd Anniversary to us! 🥂

A friend/ new Mom in Riverwood is needing help: “We’re currently looking for a nanny/babysitter to help while we wait for a spot in formal daycare. One child under a year, roughly Monday-Thursday/Friday flexible on times but roughly 10am-4pm for the month of November, possibly leading into December and January. Great neighbors is on my mind! As we were turning off 29 and I heard a horrendous metal scraping sound (clearly not a branch) learned from a neighbor, Karen Powers, driving up letting us know she thought it was our skid plate? Never heard of that one before! Bob was really impressed! That said, she went and got a hold of our neighbors Bill & Michelle Caldwell! Next thing you know, Bill is on his back in the grass under our car with zip ties fixing that skid plate! Michelle is driving us to the house so I can go to the bathroom and Bob can go home! Other neighbors drove by and checked to see if they could help, but we were already in great hands! Not sure how many zip ties later I was at University Tire and Auto Center at Airport Rd who fixed us up and made it right! Angels are clearly around us and we are so thankful! 🤗❤️

CONSTRUCTION ALERT ⚠️: The Albemarle County Service Authority plans to begin construction of the Briarwood Water Main Replacement Project on MONDAY, JUNE 23. Traffic and parking may be affected, so be alert to ACSA construction zone signs and possible re-routing. ACSA mailed residents an information card with a QR code to scan for updates on the project. Residents can also email [email protected] to receive updates. Thank you for your patience as the neighborhood undergoes improvements to the water system. Additionally, once water main work is done, affected streets are scheduled to be repaved.

2025! So many crows! I feel like I’m not seeing the small birds lately and the raucous is obnoxious (sounds like a Dr. Seuss start) Any thoughts to deter since they roost so high up in the tall trees? Love some advice!
