If I was moving to Connecticut, here are the 5 towns I'd want you to see first.

People relocating to Connecticut ask me this all the time. Where do I even start looking? So here's my honest answer, five towns, five different reasons.

Cheshire first. Accessible neighborhoods near parks and shopping, and you're close to New Haven, Hartford, and the shoreline without paying the coastal price tag.

Southington is next. Beautiful colonials and new construction with open views, real New England character, and a sense of community that surprises a lot of transplants.

Then there's Wallingford. This is the one for anyone who wants to live somewhere central with close access to restaurants and shopping.

Another great town is Prospect, if you want more land and a slower pace without losing a reasonable commute.

Lastly, there's West Hartford, if you want a historical town center with restaurants and shops and more going on day to day.

Think your property is too complicated to sell? This one had every reason to be a hard one, and it still closed at a solid price.

1 Catherine Court in Wallingford was a two-bedroom condo with a garage, and on paper that sounds like an easy listing. It wasn't. Condos carry a layer most single-family homes don't, one that can narrow the buyer pool before a single showing gets scheduled. On top of that, the timeline on this one didn't leave room for a slow process. No long runway, no cushion to let a deal fall through and start over with someone new.

The listing brought in over 7,100 views and landed in the top of search results 652 times, so visibility was never the issue. The real work was getting the right, already-qualified buyer to the table while the clock was running, and closing it out at $245,000 without cutting a corner along the way.

The specific details in the listing mattered too. Wallingford Electric rates, a finished lower level for extra storage, double closets in the primary, a balcony made for morning coffee, pet friendly, close to Route 15 and 91. The more specific the listing, the more serious the buyers who show up for it.

Just closed on this one in Wethersfield, and I'm still smiling about it. My buyer is a nurse, and when we started working together, she was clear about one thing: she didn't want a builder-grade box. Another Hero just closed! This time, it's someone who shapes classrooms across Connecticut every single day.

This listing came to me through a referral from a previous client, which is something I never take for granted. When someone trusts you enough to send the people they care about your way, you feel the weight of that. In the best possible way.

Join us on Saturday, August 22nd from 11:00AM to 1:00PM for a rare opportunity to visit the Dorothea Rudnick house, located at 225 Mill Rock Road in Hamden. This small but exciting Modernist house, built in 1958 for Dorothea Rudnick (1907-1990), a pioneering embryologist who, in the 1930s, developed techniques for transplanting parts of one embryo into another. As a professor at Albertus Magnus College from 1940 until 1977, Dr. Rudnick advanced scientific understanding while mentoring students. She also edited scientific journals and served as Secretary of the Connecticut Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Dorothea Rudnick’s architect was King-lui Wu (1918-2002), a native of Guangzhou, China, who joined Yale’s architecture faculty in 1948 and at the same time opened an architectural office in New Haven. Balancing teaching and professional practice, Wu designed a series of houses as well as offices, churches, and the clubhouse for Yale’s Manuscript society. He described his approach to design as combining the Bauhaus’s ideas of Western rationalism with Chinese romanticism—in what he called the “battle between the head and the heart.”

Set into a hillside, the Rudnick house is modest in size but thoughtfully designed, with an open plan and careful attention to providing natural light. The nearly-solid façade, lit only by a row of high, diamond-shaped windows, contrasts with a transparent end wall.
