Northfield is one step closer to a major new housing development.

REVA Development Partners on May 26 received two necessary Village Board approvals to build a 92-unit luxury apartment building on Central Avenue.

Plans for the large, four-story development include a housing mix of seven one-bedroom units, 49 two-bedroom units, 24 two-bedroom-plus-den units, and 12 three-bedroom units.

40 Units Permitted To Replace Surface Parking Lot At 6150 North Sheridan Road In Edgewater.

The full construction permit has come through for the planned condominium development at 6150 North Sheridan Road in Edgewater. Addressed as 6152 North Sheridan,

the permit was issued on May 4 with a reported cost of $5 million. It had been pending in the Chicago Data Portal since its February 11 application state date, a duration of 82 days.

Developer 6150 N. Sheridan LLC and general contractor GlobalGC Inc are both assigned to the same Chicago Avenue address in the construction permit.

They’ll build a five-story plus basement, 40-unit structure rising 60 feet in height designed by Hanna Architects.

The 40 condominiums are expected to be a mix of two-bedroom, three-bedroom, and four-bedroom layouts.

One parking space per unit will be included, with some located in the basement-level garage and the remainder on an outdoor lot at the rear of the building.

$170 million redevelopment planned for Water Tower Place
Retailers will be consolidated to the first three floors

Designed by Neumann/Smith, the $170 million redevelopment will have shoppers entering from Michigan Avenue on the ground floor immediately encounter retailers in a large atrium with a ground floor pedestrian arcade. Beyond the entrance, updates to vertical circulation, sightlines and wayfinding will enhance the visitor experience via a transformational reinterpretation of the interior design aesthetic.

Retailers will be brought together onto the first three floors, creating a more intuitive experience for shoppers designed to increase foot traffic and store performance. At the same time, floors 4-8 will be separated from the retail center for other uses, including office and medical office space.

Water Tower Place owner MetLife Investment Management recently announced plans to redevelop the nine-story mall at 845 N. Michigan. Located on the Magnificent Mile, Water Tower Place originally opened in 1975 and was acquired by MetLife in 2022.

Des Plaines OKs Loan Deal For New Sports Complex On Lattof Y Site.

The idea of developing a new and modern sports complex with a 6,000 to 7,000 sq. ft. restaurant in the longtime location of the Lattof YMCA in Des Plaines wasn’t a spur of the moment epiphany.

Nick Papanicholas, Jr., CEO of Mount Prospect-based Nicholas Family of Companies, said he started thinking about redeveloping the property at 300 E. Northwest Hwy. three to four years ago.

He said he eventually reached out to City Manager Dorothy Wisniewski and Ald. C**t Moylan (2nd), chairman of the city’s community development committee, to discuss his vision. The city was definitely interested.

Last week, it was announced that Des Plaines and the Nicholas Family have agreed to partner with each other to purchase the 90,000 sq. ft. “Y” building and adjacent parking lot to develop a complex that will feature sports-related amenities, a bar, restaurant and a small market where visitors can pick up coffee, protein drinks, salads and food.

Plan Commission Approves Werner Bros. Redevelopment In Rogers Park

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved plans for the mixed-use redevelopment of the Werner Bros. Storage building and adjacent structures. Located at 7603 North Paulina Street in Rogers Park, the proposal is being developed by Housing For All and Visionary Ventures, with Cordogan Clark & Associates leading the design.

After multiple iterations, the proposal will center on the five-story storage building built in 1921.

Its historic terra cotta façade will be repaired and restored, with much of the interior gutted and converted into 20 residential units.

This portion will include its own lobby space, along with the repaving of the existing 20-space parking lot, removal of the curb cut, and the addition of a new entrance from
the alley.
