I’ve bet on myself more times than I can count.

And I’d be lying if I said I was never terrified to do it.

Growing up, I was the background character. I was always the person people came to when they needed someone to listen, but I never really felt like I belonged anywhere.

So if you had told that girl that one day she’d build a career around people, relationships, and connection—and somehow thrive doing it? Lol. I never would have believed you.

I joined the Army thinking that would be my career. I had a plan.

And then I didn’t.

I still remember going to get my DD214. I hadn’t served nearly as long as so many others, but the panic was immediate.

What am I doing? I can’t get out. What if I fail?

But the funny thing was…I already knew what failing felt like.

And I had survived it.

I finished my bachelor’s degree with a newborn.

I started my real estate career while my husband was on a 9-month deployment and I was raising our two-year-old—and somehow built a successful first year.

Then we moved.

And I started over. Again.

New state. New market. New people. Back to proving myself.

And what followed were two of the most remarkable years of my life.
