Board Meeting Spotlight

At the upcoming Benton County Board of Commissioners meeting, the Board is schedule to approve a proclamation recognizing May 2026 as Historic Preservation Month in Benton County.

Jessica Hougen Executive Director of the Benton County Historical Society which operates the Philomath and Corvallis Museums, will present the proclamation, highlighting the importance of preserving the places and stories that shape Benton County’s identity.

Historic Preservation Month was established in 1973 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to celebrate historic places and promote the value of protecting cultural and architectural heritage.

Why it matters:
Preserving historic places helps strengthen community identity, supports local economies and keeps Benton County’s history accessible for future generations.

Residents are always welcome to attend Board meetings in person or watch online.
