May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Through partnerships like Metrocare, our onsite behavioral health clinic, Guests at The Bridge are able to access critical mental health services and support every day.

At The Bridge, we know mental health care is an essential part of recovery, and no one should have to navigate it alone.

Thank you to our partners and Care Managers for the care, dignity, and support they bring to our community every single day!

After experiencing homelessness for 10 years, Terry found support, stability, and a fresh start right here.

Terry first came to The Bridge for Day Services. With the support of his Recovery Care Manager and his Housing Care Manager Leah, he was able to move into housing and remain stably housed. 🏠

Move-in day came with uncertainty and questions, but Terry says Leah took the time to truly listen and support him through every step of the process. Today, Terry spends his days building roots in his community with his dog Niko by his side.

“If I was homeless and trying to find help, this is the best place to go for shelter,” Terry shared. “Plus people here are getting help back up on their feet, and my Care Manager does an amazing job. Five stars.” ⭐

At The Bridge, recovery and housing are possible because of compassionate staff, individualized support, and a community that believes everyone deserves stability, dignity, and hope.

This week, we gathered to celebrate the remarkable leadership and lasting legacy of Dr. David Woody III at The Bridge. 💙

For 11 years, Dr. Woody has led with compassion, vision, and an unwavering belief in our mission. His leadership helped shape The Bridge into more than a shelter. He helped create a place of recovery, healing, and community for thousands of adults experiencing homelessness in Dallas.

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening came when Board Chair Lynn McBee announced that the Welcome Building will officially be named in honor of Dr. Woody and his extraordinary service to The Bridge.

As Dr. Woody prepares to retire this July, we are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate a leader whose influence will continue to shape our community for generations to come.

Thank you, Dr. Woody, for your heart, your leadership, and your commitment to serving others.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual Day of Service this past weekend! ☀️💙

Despite the heat, volunteers and sponsors showed up ready to serve and helped transform The Bridge campus with fresh grass, flowers, plants, and mulch.

At The Bridge, creating a welcoming environment matters. Spaces that feel safe, cared for, and dignified can make a meaningful difference for Guests working toward recovery and housing.

Thank you to our volunteers and to Home Depot, Starbucks, Kindworx, and Rubial’s for helping us create a place of hope and healing for our community.

🌱 Stay tuned for the before & after transformation.

For nearly 10 years, Margaret drifted between the streets and friends’ couches.

“At first, it felt like an adventure,” she said. But over time, survival became exhausting.

A probation program eventually led her to The Bridge, something Margaret now calls her “saving grace.”

For 11 months, The Bridge became her home base. Then came something she never thought she’d have again:

A home of her own. “I haven’t had a key in years.”

Today, Margaret is sober, housed, and rebuilding her life one day at a time.

Her story is a reminder that recovery takes time, but with support, dignity, and community, change is possible. 💙

We welcomed individuals from the City of Austin to The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center as part of a coordinated visit with the City of Dallas to explore how Dallas is approaching homeless recovery.

At The Bridge, our work goes beyond shelter. Our campus brings together shelter, services, and strong cross-sector partnerships to meet Guests where they are and support their path toward recovery.

As more communities look for thoughtful, coordinated approaches to homelessness, conversations like these highlight the importance of alignment across cities, systems, and funding.

We’re proud that the work happening at The Bridge is contributing to broader conversations statewide about what effective homeless response can look like.
