Growing up on the East Coast, fall always meant something special.

The changing colors, cooler mornings, winding country roads, and that unmistakable feeling that a new season had arrived…

Living in San Diego, our version of fall may look a little different, but some of my favorite seasonal escapes are waiting just beyond the coast. 🍂

From the charming mountain town of Julian and its famous apple season to the rolling hills of Ramona and the peaceful countryside of Valley Center, there are so many beautiful places within a short drive of San Diego that bring me back to those East Coast autumn days.

A scenic drive, a crisp morning, local farms, mountain views, and a little taste of the season—sometimes you don’t have to travel far to find a change of scenery.

One of the things I love most about living in San Diego is that you can enjoy coastal life one day and head inland the next, discovering an entirely different side of Southern California. 🍁

The California housing market may have cooled in July, but San Diego’s luxury market is telling a very different story.

Statewide home sales were down 6% from June, according to the California Association of Realtors. But zoom in on San Diego—and especially our coastal communities—and the picture changes considerably.

Southern California home prices were still up 2.7% year over year, while San Diego detached-home prices climbed 5.7%. At the luxury level, demand continues to stand out, with $3 million-plus sales in San Diego County increasing 23% in the second quarter.

And our coastal communities continue to lead the way:

✨ Del Mar: Median price reached $4.48 million, with twice as many $5 million-plus sales as the year before.

✨ Rancho Santa Fe: Median price climbed to $4.53 million, alongside tightening inventory.

✨ La Jolla: Median prices rose 11%, with more homes selling above $3 million.

The takeaway?
Real estate is never just one headline or one statewide statistic.

Markets move differently depending on location, price point, inventory, and buyer demand—and understanding those nuances is more important than ever.

For homeowners considering a move along the North County coast, the right strategy starts with understanding exactly what your market is doing.

One of my favorite things about living in North County is how often our communities give us a reason to get out and enjoy them.

Tomorrow, Leucadia comes alive for the 20th Annual LeucadiART Walk along Coast Highway 101. With more than 100 artists, makers, live music, art demonstrations, and plenty to see along the way, it’s one of those days that reminds me why I love this little corner of San Diego.

I always enjoy wandering through the booths, discovering something I haven’t seen before, and taking in the energy of Leucadia.
And the best part?
It’s free and truly feels like a community event.
