As I got my children on the bus this morning I remembered back to this day in 2001. Although the memory gets foggier every year that passes, I still remember some details. I remember the day starting normally. I was a freshman at Gilman School District. My classmates and I were hard at work in Steven Parker (Mr. Parker’s) biology class when the announcement came over the loudspeaker. Most of us didn’t really pay attention, not realizing the significance of the situation. I remember Mr. Parker rolling in the old style tube tv on a cart and turning it on so we could watch in real time. I remember getting more worried as I saw the shock set in on Mr. Parker’s face. It was a hard concept for a freshman to grasp. I remember hearing rumblings of if the school should send the students home early or we should go into lockdown. There was so much uncertainty. In the weeks that passed, the gravity of the situation set in to all of us in my class. I remember in the following years needing to register for the draft and thinking there was a high probability that the draft would happen and I would have to go to the war in the Middle East. I post this not only to share with my social media friends but also as a time capsule for myself so I 🙏

🏡 The Chippewa Valley market is giving buyers something they’ve been asking for: more choices.

Active listings in Eau Claire are up from last year, but homes are still spending a median of only about 45 days on the market. Translation: buyers may have a little more breathing room, but a well-priced home can still move quickly.

For sellers, pricing and presentation matter. For buyers, being prepared still matters. The market is changing—but it certainly hasn’t packed up for fall.
