Talk about a dog-gone good day! 🐶🐾🤍

Staff and K14 residents had the best time getting out into the community this past weekend at Bark in the Park! We had so much fun supporting an event that brought people (and their pups!) together, all while raising support and awareness for the amazing work of !

Our crew jumped in wherever help was needed, from assisting with setting up the start line before the event kicked off to cheering runners on at the finish line and celebrating every participant as they crossed. A huge shoutout as well to our three residents who took things one step further and ran the 5k race!

Events like these are a great reminder that community extends far beyond our building. We’re grateful for residents who show up, get involved, and help create experiences like this together!

Stop 4: Cottage Grove 🌉🍻🌹

Cottage Grove feels like a classic small American town, with a charming Main Street that looks straight out of a movie set. It’s actually been a filming destination since the 1920’s when Buster Keaton’s ‘The General’ was shot there.

The town is rich in history, featuring landmarks like the Cottage Grove Depot and the Owen Rose Garden. It’s best known, though, for its six historic bridges, which you can explore along the 6-mile Covered Bridge Scenic Bikeway.

After a day of exploring, you can grab a meal at Jack Sprats Restaurant, known for its comforting dishes and great vegetarian options, or head to Coast Fork Brewing to kick back with a locally crafted beer.

If you time your visit right - like during Bohemia Mining Days in July or the Covered Bridge Festival in August - you’ll get an even better feel for why this town is a favorite among locals year after year!

Stop 3: Silver Falls State Park 🌲🥾🪲☀️

Silver Falls State Park is easily one of the most rewarding day trips you can make from Eugene. It’s not just the short drive that makes it special - it’s how quickly the experience pulls you into Oregons wild, waterfall-filled landscapes.

The famous Trail of Ten Falls truly lives up to its name, offering a nonstop series of cascades that make the entire hike feel like a highlight reel.

What makes this trail stand out is how immersive it is. Instead of viewing waterfalls from a distance, you can actually walk behind several of them. The full 7.8 mile loop might sound long, but with so many scenic stops, it never feels overwhelming.

While South Falls with its dramatic 177-foot drop, is the park’s most well-known feature, some of the smaller, more hidden waterfalls end up being more memorable.

If you’re planning a visit, early Summer - especially June and July - is ideal. Snowmelt and spring rains keep the waterfalls powerful, the weather is perfect for hiking, and the drive makes for an easy, scenic day trip.

After the hike, stop at South Falls Lodge for a quick bite or an ice cream as it’s the perfect way to wrap up a classic Oregon adventure!
